Disney has undeniably mastered its animated classics, so how will its live-action remakes stand in comparison, and will they uphold Disney's reputation? This preview covers initial impressions based on their trailers and shows just what some people may be thinking about this new direction for the iconic movie company. Only time will tell if these movies will have lasting reputations, but for now, here are a few conversations they have sparked.

Beauty and the Beast

If you thought you overanalyzed the new Beauty and the Beast trailer as much as humanly possible, the folks at Movie Pilot officially have you beat. Even though it was already clear from watching the various trailers that the new film takes a lot of pages out of the original film's, er, book (and there are plenty of books whenever Belle is involved), Movie Pilot reveals that it's often a pretty incredible shot-for-shot situation. They went through the original Disney animated film and plucked clips that mirror the new trailer almost exactly. The best part of this realization is now we know watching the live-action Beauty and the Beast in theaters will actually be like seeing our childhoods come to life—with a few key changes courtesy of Emma Watson.

The actress has said that the new-and-improved Belle will be much more independent, ditching her corset and becoming an inventor, instead of just being an inventor's daughter. Of course, there have been shot-for-shot recreations of the trailers dating back to the first one in November, but each one seems to become more magical than the last. March 17 can't come soon enough. Ever since the live-action Beauty and the Beast was announced, the internet has been abuzz thanks to all the sneak previews we've been gifted. We got to hear Ariana Grande and John Legend belt out the title song, we saw the amazing Harry Potter-style moving posters, and we witnessed enchanting trailers. "Be our guest!" Disney said, to which we reply: OK! And despite all the little tastes we've gotten, there's still so much to look forward to. Céline Dion will be gracing audiences with a new song, we'll finally get to hear Emma Watson truly SING.

The Lion King

"The Lion King" live-action remake of the classic animated film has roared to life with its first trailer. Disney debuted the 90 second teaser on Thanksgiving Day. The clip opens up with iconic images made famous in the 1994 flick. James Earl Jones, who will reprise his role as Mufasa's voice, is heard narrating, "Everything the light touches is our kingdom." The trailer then cuts to a group of animals including zebra, giraffes and elephants. "But a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun," Jones continues. "One day the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king." Then fans get a glimpse of Rafiki and little Simba at Pride Rock in the memorable scene in the original movie.

"The Lion King" will hit theaters July 19, 2019, and stars Donald Glover (Simba), Beyoncé (Nala), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Keegan-Michael Key (Kamari), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar) and Billy Eichner (Timon). The film is directed by Jon Favreau, who also helmed the live-action and CG version of Disney's "The Jungle Book." "It's thrilling!" he said. "One is because I'm a big fan of 'The Lion King.' Two is because it's the most expensive movie I'll have anything to do with probably, so that's thrilling." "The Lion King" held the title of top-grossing animated film of all time for several years after bringing in $968.8 million at the global box office. Its music earned it two Academy Awards — for the score and Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" — and it was adapted into a Tony-winning Broadway musical.

The Jungle Book

It's always anxiety-inducing when someone reboots one of the classics. And with Jungle Book, anyone who tackles it is not only trying to give a fresh take on the 1967 Disney animated feature, they're also charged with doing justice to the Rudyard Kipling book as well. There are currently two Jungle Book adaptations in the works, and the trailer for Disney's partially-live-action version just dropped and it looks gorgeous. (The other one is a performance-capture adaptation being made for Warner Bros. by Andy Serkis.) This Jungle Book, which hits theaters next April, is being directed by Jon Favreau and stars newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli (keep your eye on this kid).

It also has the impeccable casting of Bill Murray as the voice of Baloo, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, and Christoper Walken as King Louie. Sadly, you won’t hear any of them in this trailer (though many of them did pop up in the footage Disney showed at the D23 Expo and they're as awesome as you imagine), but who we do get a lot of here is Scarlett Johansson, who is killing it as Kaa. Honestly, it'll give you chills. During D23 Favreau acknowledged the huge task he has taken on in adapting The Jungle Book and noted that it's the technical advancements in filmmaking over the last five decades that are making it possible for him to do something new with the story. It's about “finding the balance between the iconic, mythic power of the Kipling and all of the images I loved growing up with from the animated feature, it was how do you combine those things?” he said. “And, most importantly, how do you use today's technology to take it to a different place than the film that already exists? How do you build upon that legacy?” Sounds ambitious. But hey, it worked when he made Iron Man.

Cinderella

Cinderella, one of the most beloved fairy tales of all time, will soon be following in the (glass slipper-bedecked) footsteps of Sleeping Beauty. Come spring, Prince Charming and his rags-to-riches princess will be getting the live-action treatment. Fresh off the success of Maleficent, Disney is bringing the classic to the big screen with an all-star cast that includes Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother and Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother. Lily James, of Downton Abbey fame, landed the role of the leading lady, and Game of Thrones dreamboat Richard Madden will star as her knight in shining armor.

The very first trailer for the movie was just unveiled, and like the animated version you've seen a billion times, it's going to be all sorts of magical. There's a whole lot of CGI wizardry involved, from the friendly grinning mice to the glistening glass slippers, but it's the top-notch acting that'll really make this one a must-watch. (Well, that and the costumes. Because: LOOK AT THOSE COSTUMES.) Just try and not tear up when Young Ella's mother says, "Where there is kindness, there is goodness, and where there is goodness, there is magic." That feeling you feel? That's your heart bursting.
